Nicola Sutton (nee Bamford) is a passionate athletics media professional with twelve years of experience working in national and international athletics.
Based in North-West England, the 33-year-old former England under 23 international distance runner has worked at Olympic, World, Commonwealth, European and UK-level events, and is fortunate that her passion enables her to experience many different countries and cultures as a result.
A member of the British Athletics Writers Association (BAWA), Nicola currently works as a freelance athletics writer for the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and British Athletics, and also works in press operations for local organising committees of major events.
Her previous clients include the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG), European Athletics, SkySports, London Marathon Ltd, DoubleGold Ltd, News International’s BOA Team 2012 project, England Athletics and Athletics Weekly magazine.
Focusing on web reporting (news and features), flash quotes and press conference work, she prides herself with having a large base of established working relationships with elite athletes, coaches, agents, press and media professionals, and on supplying top-quality work to deadline, expectation and with a smile!
Her career aims are simple – to continue to be a respected and busy athletics media professional, to attend many more major championships and to never fall out of love with her laptop and the sport.
